Getting around
Central Kuala Lumpur has Malaysia's densest public transport: LRT, MRT and monorail lines, with RapidKL buses between them. UniKL's main campus is on Jalan Sultan Ismail in the city centre. UCSI's main campus is in Cheras, south-east of the centre, on the MRT Kajang line at Taman Connaught. Choosing a room near a station on your line saves more time than choosing the cheapest room.
Halal food and mosques
Halal food is everywhere in the city, from food courts to mamak restaurants that stay open late. The National Mosque (Masjid Negara) and Masjid Jamek are in the centre, and every neighbourhood has a mosque or surau nearby.
Before you book
Rents in the city vary widely from one building to the next. The room prices on this page include rows from residences that HELP University lists for its students; they are the providers' own prices, not HELP's, so treat them as a guide. Universiti Malaya's International House is mainly for exchange students; ask TJS whether it is open to you.
