In short: Pakistani students apply to Malaysian universities like every international student, with three differences: academic documents are attested by IBCC or HEC and then by MOFA; Pakistan is on EMGS's Single Entry Visa list; and families plan in rupees. Career Gliders has an office in Islamabad (+92 333 575 5926). There is no consultancy fee for private universities, and USD 500 for public universities.
How does the process work for Pakistani students?
- Counselling. We look at your Matric, Intermediate, A Level or degree results, what you want to study and your family's budget, and suggest programmes and universities. See the entry requirements.
- Attestation. Your school certificates are attested by IBCC, your degrees by HEC, and then both by MOFA. See documents and attestation.
- Application and offer letter. We prepare your application with you, check every document and submit it. The university issues your offer letter.
- Student visa. The university submits your visa application to EMGS. When EMGS issues your Visa Approval Letter, you obtain a Single Entry Visa before you fly, in the country where you live now. See visa and arrival.
- Pre-departure. We brief you on travel, money, accommodation and what to carry. Most students fly from Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad or Peshawar.
- Arrival. Our partner TJS Studysteps meets you at the airport, helps you settle in and follows up your Student Pass. You complete a medical screening within seven working days of arrival.
I'm Pakistani but live abroad. Does this apply to me?
Yes. Your nationality decides the visa rules and your documents, so you follow this guide. Where you live decides where you obtain the Single Entry Visa (the Malaysian embassy or high commission in that country, for example the Embassy of Malaysia in Riyadh), where you fly from and the currency you budget in. See Pakistanis living abroad on the visa page.

Are Malaysian degrees recognised by HEC?
Yes. Degrees from Malaysian public universities and reputable private universities are recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. That includes the Malaysian branch campuses of UK and Australian universities, such as Monash University Malaysia and the University of Nottingham Malaysia, which award their home university's degree. Before you apply, your counsellor confirms the recognition of your university and programme.
Why do Pakistani families choose Malaysia?
- Cost. Tuition and living together come to about USD 7,000–10,000 a year, against USD 27,000 or more in the UK and USD 30,000 or more in Australia. See the costs in PKR.
- Distance. Malaysia is a five to six hour flight from Pakistan.
- Daily life. Malaysia is a multicultural country where halal food and mosques are everywhere.
- English. Programmes are taught in English.
- Onward routes. Branch campuses award UK and Australian degrees, and credit-transfer programmes let you finish your degree in another country.
